die stadt und das grün

Audio walk, 60 minutes, City Lab Gardening Now!, Historical Museum Frankfurt am Main, 2021

Front garden, allotment, community garden, agriculture, guerrilla gardening - there are many ways to garden in the city! In addition to supply and leisure, greening seems to be a suitable measure to counteract climate change and heat waves in the city. Gardening supposedly makes you happy - but what other motivation is behind it? What can we learn from gardeners if we want to make the city fit for the future? Where does gardening stand in the tension between wage labour, activism and leisure, individualism and community, ownership and collectivization, idealism and pragmatism?

Kathrin Dröppelmann has designed a 60-minute audio walk through 7 gardening projects in Frankfurt am Main.
