Participatory Research in Gregorio de Laferrère
with residents and Tessa Ermer, Buenos Aires, 2012–2014
Over two years, this research project explored practices of appropriation and survival in Gregorio de Laferrère, a highly marginalized district of Buenos Aires. Using experimental action-research methods — including mapping, drawing, mental maps, sound recordings, and interviews — the project investigated everyday life, resilience, and forms of resistance.
The work sought to understand the conditions shaping the contemporary city: who decides how cities like Buenos Aires are made, who holds power, and how alternative ways of living and organizing emerge.
