Space Relations

Weltkunstzimmer, Düsseldorf 2025

As part of the Space Relations project, the opening of cultural institutions was examined – how spaces can be made not only accessible, but collectively used, shaped, and experienced. The focus was on the former bakery of the Konsumgenossenschaft Düsseldorf, a site of industrial and communal practice, which today houses the Weltkunstzimmer.

The project involved working with salt dough – a material that references both the history of the bakery and the traditions of Argentine anarcho-syndicalists, whose solidarity and collective practices are reflected in communal structures. At the same time, the dough alludes to facturas, traditional Argentine pastries, here understood as a critical translation of concepts of authority: everyday objects become instruments to reflect upon, question, and collectively negotiate power relations.

From this engagement emerged a collective translation of the Commons: a poetic and analytical experiment connecting historical and contemporary structures, making spaces experientially available as shared resources, and exploring possibilities for collective action in urban contexts.
